LORRAINE BERNADETTE MARTIN,
88, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Cass City, died following a brief illness Thursday, May 9, 2019 in the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. She was born December 17, 1930 in Waltham, MA one of nine children born to William and Melanie “Minnie” (Aucoin) Chiasson. She married Sheldon Chauncey Martin August 29, 1953 in Waltham, MA. He died March 26, 1993.
Lorraine and Sheldon lived in Cuba where he was stationed during the Korean War. They returned to Cass City to make their home. She worked briefly at the Eat Shop as a dishwasher. Lorraine was an active member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Cass City. She served with its Women’s Council and sang in the church choir. Lorraine enjoyed knitting mittens and socks, embroidery, and was fond of playing BINGO. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Mary McClorey of Cass City; Sharon (Jeff) Bruno of Shepherd; Karen (Bill) Yanna of Lansing; Michael (Carol) Martin of Kennesaw, GA; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sheldon; grandson, Johnny Bruno; five brothers; three sisters; son-in-law, Dan McClorey.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2019 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Cass City with Rev. Theodore Nnabugo officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Vigil service held 8 p.m. Monday with Richard Zyrowski officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Pancratius Catholic Church or American Cancer Society.
