John W. Marshall, 94, of Cass City, died following a long illness Thursday, January 14, 2010 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit. He was born April 6, 1915 in Cass City to John W. and Mary E. (Spurgeon) Marshall. He married Mabel G. “Mickie” McKee December 10, 1936 in Lansing. She died January 30, 2002.
John received his Associates Degree in Accounting from Ferris State University. He was a dairy and crop farmer until 1955. John then began working for the John Deere dealership as a bookkeeper and partsman. In 1964 John bought the John Deere dealership which he ran until 1973. John served Tuscola County as the Register of Deeds for 12 years. John was the longest living member of the Cass City United Methodist Church. He held multiple leadership positions in the church throughout the years. John enjoyed camping and traveling and loved his motorhomes. He was a member of the Masonic Tyler Lodge #317 F & AM and the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple in Saginaw.
John is survived by his son, Roger W. and Linda Marshall; granddaughters: Drs. Jeanne and Paul Huddleston of Rochester, MN; Kathy Marshall of Midland; great grandchildren: Jessica Huddleston, Martin Huddleston, Allison Ziemba. He is preceded in death by his sister, Agnes.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 in Cass City United Methodist Church with Rev. James Braid, retired United Methodist Church clergy and Rev. Paul Donelson of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cass City United Methodist Church or Hills and Dales Healthcare Corp FBO Northwood Meadows.
