MARILYN JOYCE PETERS
Marilyn J. Peters, 89, of Cass City, died Thursday, February 6, 2025 in Hills and Dales Hospital. She was born January 2, 1936 in Pigeon to C. Robert and Beryl (Ricker) Osborn. She married Anton Frances Peters on July 28, 1956 in the Gagetown Methodist Church.
Marilyn graduated from Owendale High School in 1954. She attended college and obtained a two-year certificate and began teaching in a one room country school in 1956. Marilyn continued her education earning a Master of Education degree. She was an elementary remedial reading teacher in Owendale Gagetown Schools, then Cass City schools and served on the Cass City school board. Marilyn ended her career as the Director of Education for Tuscola County Intermediate School District. She was one of the founders of the Imagination Library in Tuscola County. Marilyn was also a member of the Thumb Octagon Barn, AAUW, and the Hills and Dales Hospital Auxiliary. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Cass City where she served on the church auxiliary, and played in the bell choir of which she was the director. Marilyn enjoyed gardening, knitting, and sewing her children’s clothing. She was a proud mother of five children and loved spending time with family, especially going to the cabin.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of sixty eight years, Anton Peters of Cass City; children: Cindy Peters of Ann Arbor; Sally (Larry) Peters Sines of Clinton and Patrick (Tina Susalla) Peters of Bad Axe: grandchildren: Veronica Conlin, Toni (Kadhem) Sallemi and great-grandson Aidan Hiiter, Alysha (John) Oxendine, Heather (Brad) Glenn, Laura (Jason) Gretz, Jaclyn Rosson, Janelle Shipione, Hayley (Nick) Shantz, Karley (Logan) Mika, Megan (Stef Klapper) Peters, Christopher Peters, Eric (Rachel Skiles) Peters, and fifteen great grandchildren, with two more on the way; sister, Norma (Dick) Wallace of Cass City. She is preceded in death by her parents, children: Christopher Peters, Joann Peters; sisters: Gwen McLachlan, Jeanie Osborn.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in First Presbyterian Church of Cass City with Pastor Kim Strunz officiating. Memorials may be made to the Imagination Library, First Presbyterian Church of Cass City, or the AAUW.
Visitation: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2025 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in First Presbyterian Church of Cass City
