MARILYN LEE LESTER
Marilyn Lee Lester, 85, of Cass City went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2024 at Northwood Meadows with her family by her side. She was born July 15, 1938 in Cass City to Audley Edwin and Charlotte Evelyn (Warner) Horner. Marilyn married Duane Malcolm Lester on July 8, 1955 at Novesta Church of Christ, Cass City.
Marilyn worked as a homemaker, teacher's aide, and retail manager over the years. In her forties, she earned an Associate's Degree in Accounting, Marketing, and Management and worked in accounting. Marilyn lived in Marlette, Michigan; Americus, Georgia; Hermiston, Oregon; and various cities in Washington State before returning to Cass City to retire in 1998. She and Duane built two houses and remodeled several more over the course of their moves.
Her many hobbies included: Bible study, painting, playing the piano, sewing, singing alto, flower gardening, and reading. Marilyn dedicated her life to her faith and her family. She treasured being a grandma and staying close with her siblings. Marilyn maintained lifelong friendships with a close circle of friends who enjoyed antiquing and celebrating birthdays together. She had a fun sense of humor and a gentle and caring soul. Marilyn was a caretaker at heart. She volunteered for hospice and managed funeral dinners at Novesta Church of Christ for many years. Her faith, regular prayer, friendships, and family got her through many challenges in her life.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Duane of Cass City; daughter, Terri (Rick) King of Seattle; son, Gregory Lester of Cass City; grandchildren: Jeff (Krystal) King of Seattle, Kevin King of Charleston, Paige Lester of Seattle, Lucas Lester of Cass City; great-grandchildren: Amelia and Wyatt King of Seattle; siblings: Ann Agemy, Lou (Jan) Horner, Cathy Hayes, and Geri Suzor. She is preceded in death by her son, Gary Lester; daughter, Kathy Lester; sister, Roberta Barnfather; granddaughter, Ashley King; sisters-in-law: Dolores Arnold, Gail Joos; brothers-in-law: Mike Agemy, Pat Hayes, Gary Suzor.
Memorial service held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024 in Novesta Church of Christ, Cass City with her brother, Lou Horner, officiating. Interment in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Northwood Meadows and Revive Ministries.
