Calvin Macrae

Calvin Wm. MacRae of CassCity Formerly of New Greenleaf Twp.
Age 86 died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Satchell’s Christian Retirement Home in Caro following a brief illness.
He was born May 22, 1920 in Greenleaf Twp., son of the late Kenneth & Sarah (McLellan) MacRae.
He was married to Verna May DeMeritt on February 12, 1944 in Flushing. She preceded him in death on May 9, 1999.
Calvin had been a longtime farmer in the New Greenleaf area and later had been employed by GTE for 20 years before retiring in 1986.
He was a member and had been very active in the First Presbyterian Church in Cass City. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed golf and especially enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends at McDonalds.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara (Phillip) Rockwell, Decker; son-in-law, Dr. Rev. John Nipper, MO; grandchildren; Rochelle Storm, Lisle, IL; Michael Nipper, Holiday, FL; Laura (Norman) Kutz, Des Moines, IO: Monica (Ronald) Medere, Tecumseh, MI: Mark (Stephanie) Rockwell, Cass City; 6 great-grandchildren; Elizabeth, Gavin, Nolan Medere; Dustin, Nile Kutz; Katelyn Rockwell; also one brother, Farquhar Bruce (Lois) MacRae, Fowler, MI ; 2 sisters, Margaret Elizabeth (Eaton) Kelly, Detroit; Beverly (Ray) VanHoven, Greenville, SC; also one sister-in-law, Evelyn MacRae, Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlene Ann Nipper; great-granddaughter, Emma Lynn Rockwell; brothers, Leonard Douglas MacRae, MD; Kenneth Ivan MacRae, DO; Archibald Raymond MacRae; sisters, Anna Marjorie MacRae, Dorcas Evangeline MacRae, Christina Alexandria MacRae , Lorna Belle Karr, Lela Irene Hall, Thelma June MacRae DO and three infant sisters.
The funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in Cass City. Rev. David Blackburn will officiate with burial in Elkland Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007.
He will lie in state at the church from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m.. Memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church, or the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements made by Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City
