Virgil A. Lowe, 103, of Snover, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in A Place of Grace, Sandusky. He was born October 12, 1912 in Snover to Samuel Elias and Anna Janet (Henry) Lowe. He married Verna Irene Sweet September 25, 1935 in Marysville. She died March 26, 2004.
Shortly after getting married, Virgil traded his Harley-Davidson for a cow and started his farming career. At one time, he and Verna saved up enough loose change to buy a grain binder. Virgil enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and working with wood. He played the saxophone and trombone. Virgil and Verna loved attending the music jams while they spent winters in Mission, Texas. He was a member of the Freemasons and also the Eastern Star.
Virgil is survived by daughters: Joyce Brown of Ubly, Carolyn (Harold) Donaghy of Sandusky; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne (George) Sangster; granddaughter, Suzanne Brown; great granddaughter, Emily Woltman; great grandson, Andrew Burkett and son-in-law, Keith Brown.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor Jayme Palaszeski of Argyle United Methodist Church officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made to Argyle United Methodist Church.
