Helen Lorentzen

Helen G. Lorentzen, 90, of Saginaw, formerly of Cass City, died Sunday, May 4, 2003 in her daughter’s home. She was born April 28, 1913 in Laurel to Charles and Anna (Ludwig) Steinmann. She married Donald R. Lorentzen September 10, 1933 in Peck. He died March 10, 1982.

Helen previously worked part time at Cass City Floral. She was a member of Cass City United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Echo Chapter. Helen served as a member of the American Cancer Society Tuscola Board for many years. She served on the Hills & Dales Hospital Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed making hats, mittens, and booties for the church bazaar and hospital gift shop. She played piano for silent movies.

Helen is survived by her children: Anne Marie Lorentzen of Saginaw, Richard (Nancy) Lorentzen of Clio, Donald (Joyce) Lorentzen of Sun City AZ; grandchildren: Amy (Joe) Poidomani, Nancy (Doug) Anderson, Daniel Lorentzen, and Thomas Lorentzen; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Charles; brothers: Fred and Walter; sisters: Anna and Christine.

Funeral services held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2003 at Cass City United Methodist Church, with Rev. George Ward of Cass City United Methodist Church and Rev. Doug Loeffler of State Street United Methodist Church officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cass City United Methodist Church, State Street United Methodist Church (Saginaw), or American Cancer Society.

Visitation: 2to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003
12 to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003 in church
