DONALD HOWARD LOOMIS
Donald Howard Loomis, 87, of Cass City died Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit, Cass City. He was born February 8, 1931 in Gagetown to Howard and Cecil (McConkey) Loomis. He was married to Anita Ilene Weatherhead August 2, 1952 in Cass City.
Don graduated from Cass City High School with the class of 1949. He began farming with two heifers that he received as a graduation gift from his parents. He loved operating the dairy farm with his brother David for forty years. In 1989, Don started to work as a custodian for Cass City Elementary School. He also served as a substitute rural mail carrier for Gagetown for twenty-three years. Don participated in Farm Bureau and served on the Tuscola County Soil Conservation Board of Directors. He possessed a strong faith and a great sense of humor. Don loved the Christmas holiday and portraying Santa Claus for friends and family. He was a very generous and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Don is survived by his wife, Anita and their children: Becky (William) Dornbush of Sartell, MN; Debbie (Henry) Cooklin of Monticello, IL; Sally (Michael) Scott of Cass City; Thomas (Valorie) Loomis of Petoskey, Kay (Ethan) Ware of Columbia, SC; grandchildren: Brianne Dornbush, Ariel Dornbush, Joshua Dornbush, Aaron (Ingrid) Cooklin, Amy (Bernard) Bell, Angela (Kyle) Cresap, Ian (Nicole) Scott, Bryce Scott, Joseph (Sophia) Loomis, Benjamin (Megan) Loomis, Hannah Loomis, Peter Loomis, Rachel Loomis, Malachi Ware, Jackson Ware, Noah Ware, Julia Kay Ware; great grandchildren: Nora Bell, Eli Bell, Kaden Cresap, Kolter Cresap, Ekko Scott, Lucian Scott; brother, David (Joyce) Loomis of Bay City; sister, Shirley Kritzman of Millersburg, IN; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Francis Loomis; sisters: Lucille DeLong, Dorothy Murray.
Funeral service held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Evangelical Free Church of Cass City with Pastor Todd Gould officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery.
