Doris M. Long, 68, of Cass City, died Thursday, December 8, 2011 in her home with her husband by her side. She was born January 3, 1943 in Cass City to Steve and Dorothy (Willy) Orto. She married Dennis Long in the Cass City Lutheran Church on April 4, 2004.
Doris worked at Walbro for over 23 years in the Aftermarket Division making service kits. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Cass City. Doris was an avid reader and enjoyed a variety of books. In an effort to help people through the loss of their loved ones, Doris made memory bears, usually out of a piece of their clothing. Doris was a volunteer at Hills & Dales General Hospital. She worked in the gift shop and distributed mail to the patients. Doris also enjoyed watching basketball, football and NASCAR racing. Her favorite driver was Jimmy Johnson.
Doris is survived by her husband, Dennis; children: Sabrina (Mike) Wood of Mayville, Anthony (Cindy) Moran of Scottsdale, AZ, Shawna (Tim) Marquardt of Kingston, Aaron (Kaylee) Long of Goodells; 11 grandchildren; brother, Emery Orto of Forest Park, IL; sister, Sandra Tierney of Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund. Interment in Elkland Township Cemetery.
