DELLA LYDIA LEGG
Della L. Legg, 90, of Tipton, OK, formerly of Kingston, died Thursday, January 8, 2009 in Jackson County Memorial Hospital, Altus, OK. She was born June 19, 1918 in Lohma, MO to John W. and Louise (Goldhammer) Horak. She married Harland A. Legg January 3, 1943 in St. Louis, MO. He died January 7, 1994.
Della graduated from Cosmetology College July 1, 1939 in Jefferson City, MO. She opened her own home-based beauty salon on Elm Street in Kingston, June 11, 1955. Not only did Della work in her shop four days a week, four to seven hours a day, but she visited area homes and nursing homes to perform her services. She was a very kind and giving woman, an active volunteer doing many extra favors for homebound people such as driving them to appointments or shopping, or shop for them. Della was a very active member of the Kingston VFW Auxiliary Post #5317 and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marlette.
Della is survived by her son, Donald (Nancy) Legg of Tipton, OK; daughter-in-law, Sue Legg; grandchildren: Christopher, Dawn, Heidi, Gretchen, Jodi; several great grandchildren; She is preceded in death by her son, Curtis Legg.
Graveside service will be held at a later time in Kingston Cemetery, Kingston, where her cremated remains will be buried with her husband. Honorary pallbearers for Mrs. Legg are: Doug Kramer, Rod Kramer, Dave Lalko, Don Brown, Ed Henderson and Ed Nichol. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marlette or Kingston VFW Auxiliary Post #53l7.
