MICHAEL ANDREW LAMPELA
Michael A. Lampela, 63, of Kentucky, formerly of Kingston, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Vanderbilt Medical Hospital, Tennessee. He was born February 4, 1954 in Highland Park to John and Jean Lampela. He was married to and divorced Ione Hickson and later he married and divorced Marianne Landvoy. They always remained good friends.
Mike graduated from Berkley High School in 1972. He worked as a contract machine builder and held various jobs including working for the Valenite Corporation and Ollesheimer Roofing in Madison Heights. In his younger years, while participating in the Boy Scouts Mike earned the achievement of Eagle Scout. "Big Mike" was proud of his gun collection and enjoyed deer and turkey hunting. He spent time on his boat on Lake Michigan and Lake Huron fishing for walleye and perch. Mike had a gentle, fun loving attitude and big heart. He was always quick to make friends and remained loyal to them. Mike loved the time he spent with his daughters and grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his daughters: Melissa Lampela-Kifer of Berkley, Rebecca Lampela of Croswell; grandchildren: Kayla, Autumn, Audrey, Owen, Miranda, Henry, Angus; nephews: Andy, Dale, Joshua; nieces: Danielle and Deirdra. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Robert Lampela and Jack Lampela.
Memorial service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Sam Leppert, Funeral Service Celebrant officiating. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
