SHIRLEY ANN LaFOND
69, of Kingston, died following a lengthy illness Sunday, May 9, 2021 in her home. She was born February 6, 1952 in Cass City to Winnie and Maybelle (Bemis) Skinner. She married Robin Lee LaFond on June 5, 1971 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Wilmot.

Shirley attended Kingston schools and graduated from St. Louis High School. She was employed by Walbro in Cass City for fifteen years and later retired from TI Automotive in Caro after twenty-nine years. Shirley was also a homemaker and was skilled at sewing, crafting, and tending to her flowers in her yard. She will be remembered as a fantastic cook. She enjoyed playing cards, gambling, and visiting the casinos. She loved traveling, especially camping. Shirley was Robin’s first mate fisherman, or better known as the deck boss. Together they enjoyed many fly fishing trips.

Shirley is survived her husband, Robin; son, Robin LaFond Jr. of West Branch; daughter, Martie (Nick) Osmulski of Traverse City; grandchildren: Shyanne LaFond, Madison LaFond, Bryson LaFond, Gradin Osmulski, Griffin Osmulski, Peyton Osmulski; great grandchild, Sawyer McCormick; mother, Maybelle Sarles of Gladwin; siblings: Robert Bemis of Gladwin; Karen (Wayne) Boyl of Otsego; Debra Scott of Lake Wales, FL; William (Deb) Skinner of Kingston; Sally (Michael) Carb of Mayville; Betty (Hank) Brousseau of Alger; Richard Skinner of Deford; David (Wendy) Skinner of Wilton, WI; Jackie Webb of Kingston; George (Tammy) Patterson of Alger; step siblings: LueEllen (Gary) Woolmen of Carsonville; Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Troub of Owosso; Robert (Brenda) Patterson of UT; Patricia Carnatize of Charlotte, NC; Robin’s siblings: Carol Tezak of Indian River; Pamela (Brian) Gray of Kawkawlin; Judith (Larry) Coder of Bay City; Douglas (Reba) LaFond of Columbia, TN; Danial (Carla) LaFond of Sante FE, TN; Kimberly LaFond of New York, NY; James (Lori) LaFond of Rapid River; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Donnie Skinner; step-father, Larry Sarles; step-brother, James Patterson; mother-in-law, Jean LaFond; father-in-law, Raymond LaFond; sister-in-law, Babette LaFond; brother-in-law, John Tezak.

Graveside service held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in St. Michael Cemetery, Wilmot with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Friends may share memories, prayers and photos with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com. Visitors are reminded to wear a mask or other facial covering during the visitation. Social distancing and limitations on numbers gathered will be observed.
