EVELYN RUTH KRUEGER,
97, of Sebewaing, formerly of Deford, died Saturday morning July 20, 2019, peacefully at home. She was born July 7, 1922 in Cheboygan the fifth of ten children born to Pliney and Bertha (Marshall) Cornell. She married Leo Donald Krueger July 16, 1938 in Pontiac. He died April 14, 1990.
Evelyn worked in Pontiac as a housekeeper before marrying Leo and moving to Deford. She was a farm wife and helped with the family dairy farm. Evelyn also worked in the meat department of Erla’s Food Center in Cass City. She worked as a cook for Beagio’s Pizza in Kingston and later as a cashier in Deford Store. Evelyn enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens. She canned all types of fruits and vegetables. Evelyn listened to old country music and loved playing the piano.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Joann (Ralph) VanStone of Lapeer; Thelma (Fred) TerBush of Clio; Linda (Floyd Cargill) Haebler of Decker; Ken Krueger of Sebewaing; Eleven grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Delbert “Leo” Krueger; grandsons: Greg Haebler, Richard Krueger; five brothers and four sisters; sons-in-law: Ralph VanStone, Gary Haebler.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor Christian Wright of Cass City First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Moore Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Kranz Funeral Home for the benefit of the family.
