WILLIAM LEWIS KRITZMAN,
William “Bill” L. Kritzman, 85, of Cass City died following a short illness Friday, July 14, 2017 in his home with his family by his side. He was born February 8, 1932 in Yale the second of three children born to Marvin A. and Angeline M. (Mehlberg) Kritzman. He married Jeanette “Jan” Evelyn Williamson April 26, 1958 in Deckerville United Methodist Church.
Bill graduated from Sandusky High School in 1950. He attended one year at Cleary College before enlisting in the U. S. Coast Guard. During his three years in the Coast Guard he was stationed in Sault Ste Marie, Ludington and Manistee. After the Coast Guard service, he studied for two years at Michigan State University. Bill, along with his Dad and brother, bought the last three stores from HJ Smith. Bill ran the Cass City Kritzman’s store for 39 years until his retirement in 1998. Bill was a longtime member of Cass City Rotary Club where he served as President. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce also serving as President, Cass City United Methodist Church serving on various committees throughout the years. He enjoyed golfing, deer hunting and pheasant hunting, traveling and playing Euchre and Cribbage with his friends. Bill was a strong but quiet leader in the Cass City Community for many years. Every year in the winter he worked with Cass City Community Schools to donate boots, gloves and coats to children in the school system. Bill had a big heart, he would give to anyone who had a need. He loved all animals, and many made their home with Bill and his family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jan; children: Renee (Dave ) Paek of Sebring, FL, Denise Kritzman of Cass City, Dawn Deering of Cass City; grandchildren: Derek Hill, Brad Deering; great grandchildren: Brennan, Blake and Faith; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Lawayne Kritzman of Bad Axe and his sister, Lucille (Leo) Sullivan of Marlette;
Memorial service held 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Jackie Roe of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cass City United Methodist Church or Cass River Pet Friendz.
