John D. Kraus, Jr., 15, of Deford, died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 30, 2003 in his home. He was born August 14, 1987 in Mt. Clemens to John D. Kraus, Sr. and Cynthia (VanWormer) Kraus.
John enjoyed skateboarding, playing video games and fishing. He visited the “Office” in Caro and “Airborne” in Warren to skateboard. John was very artistic. He collected Magic cards and other sports cards. He enjoyed racing his remote control truck. John attended Kingston Community School.
John is survived by his parents: Cynthia (Daniel, Jr.) Girlish. of Deford, John (Audrey) Kraus, Sr. of Warren: sisters: Sarah Dewitt of California, Amanda (Robert) Mourelo of Roseville, Sara Farley of Deford; nephew, Brandon Mourelo; nieces: Courtney Mourelo and MacKenzie Dewitt; grandparents: Lois and Jerry Lapish of Lake Somerset; Barbara and David Kraus of Roseville, Dan and Linda Girlish of Warren; great grandmother, Verge Lapish of Estero, FL; uncles: Jack Couch of Texas, Tom (Sandy) Couch of Big Rapids, Tim (Karen) Couch of Naples, FL; aunts: Deborah (Bill) Neaton of Stockbridge, Tonjia Taylor of Warren, Tracy (Dan) Demanski of Richmond; many cousins. He is preceded in death by his uncle, Richard Kraus; grandfather and grandmother, Jack and Delores VanWormer.
Funeral services held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2003 at Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Pastor Len Wyatt of Kingston Wesleyan Church officiating. John’s cremated remains will be buried in Somerset Cemetery near his grandparents home and favorite fishing spot. Memorials may be made to Cass River Pet Friendz or Kingston Wesleyan Church Youth Group.
