George W. King, 76, of Cass City, died following a short illness Monday, August 10, 2009 in his home. He was born May 2, 1933 in Huron County to George L. and Elsie M. (Jackson) King. He married Phyllis Little March 12, 1960 in Cass City.
George served in the U.S. Army. He farmed and also worked for Anrod and General Cable in Cass City and retired from Saginaw Steering Gear after many years. George enjoyed camping, hunting, woodworking and gardening but fishing was his passion.
George is survived by his wife, Phyllis; son, Donald (Mary Lou) King of Cass City; step-daughters: Kathy (Jim) Daley of Kingston, Karen (Ron) Turner of Cass City; grandchildren: Shannon (Tim) Stafford, Courtney (Greg) Sturtevant, Aaron Daley, Wade (Whitney) Daley, Drew King, Larissa King; great grandchildren: Caydence, Aidan, Gavon, and Owen; brothers: Glen (Janet) King of Auburn, Jim King of Cass City; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry King; sister, Bette Lou Hunt.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Brad Gniewek of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery, Memorials may be made to United Hospice of Marlette.
