D. MARIAN KEATING
Marian Keating, 80, of Cass City, died Sunday, January 22, 2006 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit. She was born May 9, 1925 in Gaines, MI to Walt and Alice (Fox) Miller. She married Robert H. Keating December 23, 1944 in Cass City.
Marian worked for Bell Telephone in Ypsilanti for three years and later opened Sunny Side of the Street yarn shop which she ran for about ten years. She was a gifted knitter, taught knitting and loved gardening. Marian was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church and the now Cass City United Methodist Church and former president of WSCS through church. She was the chairman of the Building Committee of the Rawson Memorial Library and former president of the Rawson Memorial Library board. Marian was very active with Rawson Memorial Library and Cass City Historical Society. She was a former president of the Friends of the Library and was instrumental in starting the Home Tour fundraiser and was chairman of the Bridal Show fundraiser. Marian was instrumental in working with the historical society in creating the �"Living Video” series of Cass City’s history and in compiling and creating the 1996 Cass City History Book.
Marian is survived by her husband, Robert; sons: Edward (Noreen) Keating of Bay City, Phil (Maggie) Keating of Big Rapids; grandchildren: Steven Keating, Ann Keating, James Keating; sisters: Olga Schram of White Lake, F. Jean Wilson of Waterford; special niece, Karen Sussex of Saline; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by grandson, Robert Keating.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2006 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. George Ward of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made to Cass City Historical Society, Rawson Memorial Library, or Cass City United Methodist Church. Pallbearers for Mrs. Keating: Ed Keating, Phil Keating, Steve Keating, Jim Keating, Ann Keating, and Luke Karr.
