MARJORIE A. KARR, 91, of Gagetown, died Friday, October 25, 2013, in Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe. She was born December 8, 1921 in Cass City to Alex and Mary (Brown) Milligan. She married Leonard J. Karr November 29, 1947 in Cass City. He died October 28, 1999.
Marjorie graduated from Cass City High School. She attended one year at Central Michigan University and then went on to graduate from Detroit Business College. Marjorie worked at the Secretary of State's office in Cass City during the early 1940's. She loved her life on the dairy farm and worked alongside her husband, Leonard, throughout the 1960's, helping with field work, driving tractor and baling hay. During the 70's, Marjorie was a bank teller at the Pinney State Bank. She was a life member and past matron of the Echo Chapter Order of the Eastern Stars. Marjorie was also an active member of the Gagetown United Methodist Church. She had a beautiful voice and shared her talent often by singing at numerous weddings and funerals. Marjorie was an avid Tigers and Pistons fan. She was a "couch" sports enthusiast, becoming very emotionally involved in cheering them on. She enjoyed the water, beach and boating.
Marjorie is survived by her sons: Arnold (Janet) Karr of Akron, Dale (Mary) Karr of Milan and Curtis (Cynthia) Karr of Ann Arbor; grandchildren: Eric (Stephanie) Karr, Jesse Karr, Grant Karr, Lucas Karr, Julia Karr, Neil Karr; great granddaughter, Isla Karr; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Marion Oatley; brother, James A. Milligan.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2013 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Cynthia Parsons of Gagetown United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gagetown United Methodist Church.
