WALLACE "WALLY" CHARLES KAPPEN,
87, of Cass City died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 25, 2015 in his home. He was born July 29, 1928 in Ashmore the fifth of seven children born to Robert and Mildred (Patnaude) Kappen. He married Shirley Ann Koehler November 10, 1949 in Caro.
Wally raised dairy cattle for many years. He owned and operated Wally Kappen Saw Mill since 1954. He liked to buy and sell things and was always looking for a good deal. Wally enjoyed taking rides throughout the countryside. He was a member of Caro Moose Lodge #1049 and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He enjoyed being surrounded by great grandchildren and loved family gatherings.
Wally is survived by his wife, Shirley; children: Ronald (Sue) Kappen of Cass City, Victoria (Ken) Proctor of Akron, Robert (Crystal) Kappen of Cass City, Bonnie Kappen of Caro, John "Jack" (Susan) Kappen of Cass City; grandchildren: Shelly (Richard) Cantu, Angela (John) Zagorski, Erica (Lonnie) Nowland, Robert Kappen, Erin (Eric) Jenecki, Jacob (Leslie) Kappen, Tyson Kappen, Nicholas (Jessica) Kappen, Dawn (Daniel) Deschetsky and Troy (Brooke) Roller; great grandchildren: Taylor, Jocelyn, Kara, Seth, Drake, Autumn, Alana, Allyse, Aubree, Parker, Kennedy, Chase, Madelyn, Cohen, William and Alice; sister, Vivian Rabideau of Cass City, Jack (Iris) Kappen of Cass City, Maxine (Jay) Smith of Caseville; many nieces and nephews. Wally is preceded in death by his son, Charles Wallace Kappen; granddaughter, Alexandra Kappen; brothers: Warren Kappen and Lester Kappen; sister, Margie McGill; brother-in-law, Robert Rabideau.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Steve Bagnall of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Cass City. Pallbearers for Mr. Kappen will be his grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Family Discretionary Fund.
