Charles W. Kappen, 47, of Cass City, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, March 31, 2004 in his home. He was born February 7, 1957 in Cass City to Wallace C. and Shirley (Koehler) Kappen. Mr. Kappen never married. Chuck served in the U.S. Marines from 1975 to 1980. He was a licensed Cosmetologist, owning a barber shop in Caro for a short time. Chuck worked for Sebewaing Industries for a time but worked at Kappen Saw Mill as a lumberjack for many years. He enjoyed playing chess and hosting cookouts. He liked helping others. Chuck loved animals, his nieces and nephews and getting family and friends together. Chuck is survived by his parents: Wallace and Shirley Kappen of Cass City; brothers: Ronald (Sue) Kappen of Cass City, Robert C. Kappen of Cass City, John (Susan) Kappen of Cass City; sisters: Victoria (Kenneth) Proctor of Akron, Bonnie Kappen of Caro; nieces and nephews: Shelly Proctor, Angela Proctor, Erica (Aaron) Nowland, Robby Kappen, Dawn (Daniel) Deschetsky, Troy Roller, Erin, Jacob, Tyson, Aleigh and Nicholas Kappen; great nieces: Jocelyn, Kara and Autumn; great nephew, Drake. Funeral services to be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City, with Rev. Gerald Meyer officiating. Memorials may be made to Hills & Dales General Hospital, Cass City MMR, or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Interment of Mr. Kappen’s cremated remains will take place at a later date in Elmwood Township Cemetery. Military honors under the direction of Cass City VFW Post #3644. Visitation: 6 to 9 p.m., Friday 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, in church
