Ruth M. Kaake, 81 of Cass City, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2007 at St. Mary’s of Saginaw following a brief illness.
She was born March 10, 1925 in Decker, Michigan, daughter of the late Orin and Fern (Houck) Philpot.
She was united in marriage to Willard Kaake on September 17, 1944 in Decker. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1993.
Ruth attended the Cass City Church of the Nazarene.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #3644 of Cass City and the Lamotte Twp. Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She also faithfully attended the Cass City Senior Dining Center. She enjoyed going to bingo at Lamotte every Tuesday night. Ruth also enjoyed baking and cooking and embroidery.
Surviving are her 9 children, William (Ethel) Kaake, Woodsboro, TX; Leonard (Linda) Kaake, Imlay City; Richard (Gloria) Kaake; Bruce (Lovolah) Kaake, all of Decker Lois (Joe) Remsing, Cass City; Eugene (Rita) Kaake, Gagetown; Dale (Rhonda) Kaake, Cass City; Donna (Bob) Biebel, Marlette; Charlie (Beth) Kaake, Cass City; 27 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; also 3 great-great-grandchildren; also one sister, Vera Philpot, Decker.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Irene, her brother, Austin and her nephew, Jim.
The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City. Rev. George Harmon of Caro and Rev. Judy Esckilson, Pastor of the Cass City Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Lennie Kaake, Tim Harbin, Kevin Hicks, Jamie Remsing, Dale Kaake Jr., and Andrew Kaake.
Friends may call at the Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday; 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of service. Interment will be in Moshier Cemetery at Hemans.
