NEVLAIN WILLIAM JOHNSON
Nevlain W. Johnson, 81, of Cass City died following a short illness Wednesday, September 6, 2017 surrounded by his loving family in his home. He was born May 31, 1936 at home in Jackhorn, KY the youngest of six children born to Benny F. and Nanny (Quillen) Johnson. He married Evelyn Jutta Maria Junghardt October 18, 1960 in Basel, Switzerland.
Nevlain was born and raised in a log cabin in Kentucky. After he graduated from high school he moved to Detroit for work. He found his first job with A & P in the Bakery. Nevlain then worked in job shops learning machine repair and tool and die work. He worked for General Motors as a supervisor in Quality Assurance retiring in 2000 after 28 years of service. Nevlain served in the U.S. Army as a Radioman 1958-1960. He served in Germany and later served four years in the Reserves. Nevlain was a very creative man who accomplished his dream of building his own log home. He enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting deer, turkey and pheasant with his family and friends. Nevlain was a talented musician playing banjo for a good part of his life and playing the guitar with his sons. He was a member of the Cass City First Baptist Church.
Nevlain is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children: Bernard (Sabrina) Johnson of Shelton, CT, Eric (Lourie) Johnson of Cass City, Keith (Stephanie) Johnson of Frankenmuth; grandchildren: Jesse Johnson, Corey Johnson, Blake Johnson, Raquel (Felipe) Santanna; sister, Vay Jean Wood of Detroit; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Ed Johnson, Benny Johnson; sisters: Bernice Jackson, and Ava Peterson.
Memorial service held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor David Hill of Cass City First Baptist Church officiating.
