Marion G. Johengen, 83, of Kingston, died peacefully Wednesday, October 6, 2010 in her daughter’s home following a lengthy illness. She was born September 19, 1927 in Gilford to Frank and Myrtle (Wice) Guthrie. She married Chester Johengen June 24, 1951 in Caro, Michigan. He preceded her in death September 13, 1972.
Marion was a homemaker, wife and mother. She attended the Bethel United Methodist Church in Akron. Marion loved raising sunflowers. She also enjoyed reading and gardening.
Marion is survived by her children: David Johengen of Caro, Linda Johengen of Caro, Shirley (Randy) Hampshire of Kingston; grandchildren: Amalie Hampshire of Kingston, Brandon (Heather) Hampshire of Kingston, Joshua of Bay City, Brian of Bay City, Lizabeth of Bay City; great granddaughter, Haley; sisters: Helen (Vern) Rice of Fairgrove, Harriet (Raymond) Hunt of Millington; sisters-in-law: Janet Guthrie of Flint, Ida Wells of Flint, Marcia Johengen of Mt. Pleasant; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Daniel Johengen; brothers: Norman Guthrie, Walter Guthrie, Paul Guthrie; sisters: Arlene Grey, Gwendolyn Bodeis; dear friend, Harold Thompson.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010 in Sutton-Sunshine United Methodist Church with Pastor Pat Robbins officiating. Interment will be in Almer Township Cemetery.
