LILLIAN ELIZABETH JACOBY
Lillian E. Jacoby, 90, of Cass City, died Saturday, April 9, 2005 in Covenant Health Care, Cooper Campus, Saginaw after a short illness. She was born October 16, 1914 at home in Owendale to Daniel and Henrietta (Snyder) Rupp. She married George M. Jacoby June 22, 1935 in Owendale. He died September 7, 1979.
Lillian and George owned and operated Jacoby’s Grocery Store and ran the post office in Deford from 1946 until 1960. Then the building was used only for the Post Office. Lillian operated a beauty shop in the back until the early 1970’s. After George retired as Postmaster, Lillian became Postmaster of the Deford Post Office until her retirement about 1977. Lillian was a big sports fan. She especially enjoyed the Detroit Pistons and the Detroit Tigers. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, bowling and china painting in years past.
Lillian is survived by her sons: Robert (Prudy) Jacoby of Davison, Daniel (Kathy) Jacoby of Flint; brother, Harold (Noreen) Rupp of Bay City; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers: Clarence Rupp, Clifton Rupp, Hazen Rupp; sister, Marguerite Figley.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Chuck Emmert of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made to Northwood Meadows or Covenant Health Care �- Cooper Campus. Visitation: 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. 10 to 11 p.m. Tuesday before the service
