STEVE KALUK III
Steve Kaluk III, 68, Allenton, died Sunday, February 5, 2006 in his home. He was born January 10, 1938 in Switchback, WV to Steve and Bernice (Boots) Kaluk Jr. He married Theresa M Koslowski January 7, 1961 in Holy Name Catholic Church, Detroit. They recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.
Steve served in the U.S. Marine Corp after graduating from high school and was stationed in Washington DC. He worked as a coal miner in West Virginia for about three years before moving to Detroit. Steve worked for Chrysler Corporation for over 31 years as a welder repairman, retiring in 1997. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Emmett. Steve was a 4th Degree Knight in the John F. Sarrell Knights of Columbus Council # 7918. Steve was a volunteer fireman for Berlin Township Fire Department in Allenton for over three years. He enjoyed hauling cattle and going to market with his friend. Steve enjoyed mowing his grass, barbecuing and spending time with his family and friends.
Steve is survived by his wife, Theresa; children: Donna Kaluk-Potyczka of Allenton, Matthew (Debra) Kaluk of Mayville, Mary Ann Kaluk of Centerline; grandchildren: Francis, Jennifer, Vincent, Maria and Michael; brothers: James (Bonnie) Kaluk of Bradenton, FL, Jack (Linda) Kaluk of Peterstown, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Lorraine Koslowski of Imlay City, Susan Koslowski of Lubbock, TX; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; beloved brother-in-law, Leonard Koslowski; sister-in-law, Becky Kaluk.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2006 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with Monsignor George Browne officiating. Interment is in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Emmett. Military honors under the direction of the United States Marine Corp. Memorials may be made to Sago Miner’s Relief Fund, c/o First Central Bank, P.O. Box 340, Philippi, West Virginia 26416.
