Mary E. Hutchinson, 89, of Cass City, died Friday, February 19, 2010 in Tendercare Nursing Facility, Cheboygan. She was born August 20, 1920 in Wheeling, WV to Charles and Helen (Balock) Kastraba. She married Grant W. Hutchinson June 19, 1940 in Cass City. He died December 17, 2001.
Mary was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and former Past Matron. She was a member of Cass City United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Mary and Grant donated the land for the new Cass City United Methodist Church. Mary was a former manager of the Rolling Hills Golf Course Clubhouse.
Mary is survived by her sons: Jim (Betty) Hutchinson of Bois Blanc Island and Bill (Prudence) Hutchinson of Northfield, MN; grandchildren: Jeff (Christy) Hutchinson of Sand Lake, Lynne (Randy) Hodges of Saginaw, Mike Hutchinson of Reese, Sarah (Roger) Grantham of Minneapolis, MN; great grandchildren; Jack and Sophie; brother, Frank (Delores) Kastraba of Papillon, NB; sisters: Sophie “Jean” DeGrant of Bad Axe, Judy Bannick of Pigeon, Anna McCullum of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Grant in 1960; brothers: Alex Kastraba, George Kastraba; sister, Helen Salvia.
Memorial service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2010 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Paul Donelson of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
