RAYMOND WILLIAM HURD,
68, of Deford died unexpectedly Friday, February 3, 2017 in his home. He was born February 29, 1948 in Cass City the third of six children born to Norman and Florence (Commins) Hurd. He married Gayle Ann Spencer October 3, 1987 in Caro in the home of Gayle's Aunt.
Ray worked at Snover Stamping as a Die Setter for over thirty years, leaving because of a motorcycle accident. He later took a job at Woodland Hills Golf Course in Sandusky. Ray enjoyed the outdoors. He liked duck hunting and deer hunting. He had a passion for riding motorcycles and playing golf.
Ray is survived by his wife, Gayle; children: Joshua Hurd of Sandusky, Randy Hurd of Flint, Tommy Hurd of Flint; one granddaughter; sisters: Janet (Russ) Bradley of Deford, Grace (Harland) Murdick of Caro, Ellen (Donald) Mills of Florida; brother, Norman Hurd of Florida; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son, Eric Hurd; sister, Norma (Alfred) Connolly.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Hurd will be: Clem Koepf, Matthew Koepf, John Harbin, Jeff Parish, Harland Murdick, and Joshua Hurd. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
