CAROLE JEAN HOLLIS,
71, of Cass City, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 17, 2011 in her home. She was born June 18, 1939 in Saginaw to Norman and Meletine (Gase) Sieggreen. She married Larry Frank Hollis July 20, 1957 in Jeffersonville, IN.
Carole attended Saginaw Valley State University for 3 years. She worked for Hills and Dales General Hospital for 8 years in Housekeeping. She was a longtime devoted member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church where she taught 4th grade Catechism for 34 years. She enjoyed her volunteer work with Hospice and her ability to offer comfort to those who were suffering. Carole used her creative gift in her oil paintings. She also made gifts for her grandchildren including pillows and sweatshirts. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, traveling and camping. Carole and Larry have visited all 50 states.
Carole is survived by her husband, Larry; children: Lawrence Scott (Tina) Hollis of Virginia Beach, VA, Richard Michael (Connie) Hollis of Cass City, Steve Norman Hollis of Salsburg, NC; grandchildren: Cacey, Allison, Scott, Megan, Eric, Gracy and Kyle; 10 great grandchildren; brother, William Sieggreen of Cass City; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald Sieggreen and Butch Sieggreen.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Bala and Sr. Maria Dina Puddu MC officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Pallbearers for Ms. Hollis: Larry Hollis, Rick Hollis, Steve Hollis, Eric Hollis, Dale Vogel and Richard Szarapski.
