Ruth M. Hoffman, 82, of Cass City, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at Tendercare in Cass City. She was born July 12, 1927 in Montrose to Evelyn and Gertrude (Eastman) Anderson. She married Arlington “Barney” Hoffman October 26, 1946 in Trinity United Methodist Church, Cass City.
Ruth graduated from Montrose High School and later attended Central Michigan University. She worked for Frutchey Bean Company, General Cable, Old Wood Drug, Cass City Village Clerk and American Cancer Society where she retired in 1990. Ruth was a member of the Cass City United Methodist Church, Lewiston Lioness, Red Garter Girls, Eastern Star and Tom Thumb Singers. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, working with stained glass, dolls and other arts and crafts, but her primary interest was music.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Arlington “Barney” Hoffman; children: Gail Ian of Northville, Kell (Shirley) Hoffman of Cass City, Robbin (John) Rice of Caro, Randy (Kim) Hoffman of Harrisburg, VA; grandchildren: Bethany Wicksall, Robert Gengler, Erin Hiiter, Tom Davis, Robert Davis, Patty Halverson, Roger Hoffman, Daniel Hoffman, Christopher Hoffman, Ryan Kline; great-grandchildren: Victoria, Joey, Katie, Zach, Sulley, Parker, Charlie. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Kinsey Anderson and Maynard Anderson.
Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 in Cass City United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Donelson of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund.
