Belva Hillaker, 88, of Argyle, died Monday, April 12, 2004 in Courtney Manor, Bad Axe. She was born July 7, 1915 in Evergreen Township to Leslie and Margaret (Henry) Phillips. She married Edward Albert Hillaker March 6, 1937 at her parent’s home in Argyle.
Belva was a member of Cass City First Baptist Church. She worked at Kritzmans for many years and also helped on their farm. Belva was an excellent cook. She enjoyed quilting and raising chickens.
Belva is survived by her husband, Edward; sons: Richard (Janet) Hillaker of Port Huron, Jerry (Sharon) Hillaker of Snover; granddaughters: Susan (Brian) Duda of Port Huron, Diane (Bob) Baur of Clinton Twp., Kristen (Steve) Coon of Lansing, Sara (Tim) Ladd of Evart, Jennifer Hillaker of CA; great grandchildren: Trevin and Kaylee Ladd, Ryan Duda, Nolan and Kamdyn Coon; sisters-in-law, Thelma Phillips, Muriel Parrott; brothers-in-law, Russell (Elaine) Hillaker, Lorn (June) Hillaker; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Clarence Phillips and Doyle Phillips.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 16, 2004 at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Rev. Eric Holmgren of Cass City First Baptist Church and Rev. John Wood officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cass City First Baptist Church. Pallbearers for Mrs. Hillaker: Tim Ladd, Brian Duda, Steve Coon, Bill Kritzman, Bill Ewald, Bob Baur, Dick Shaw; honorary pallbearers: Gordon Patterson, Ed Pfaff, Fred Pallas, Harold McAlpine, and Morris Adair.
Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004 at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City
