DORIS YVONNE HENDRICK
88, of Decker, died peacefully Thursday, February 2, 2023 in Satchell’s Christian Retirement Home, Caro. She was born June 23, 1934 to William and Luella (Surine) Lewis. She married Earl Owen Hendrick, Jr. on October 25, 1952 in Colling Church of the Nazarene. He died December 24, 2008.
Doris graduated from Caro High School. She was employed by Trade Winds Clothing Store in Cass City and Colony House Catering Hall in Cass City. Since 1999, Doris has been a parishioner of Novesta Church of Christ, Cass City. She took great pleasure watching her children and grandchildren play sports and show animals at the fair. Doris was an excellent seamstress. Quilting and making porcelain dolls were favorite hobbies. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her rose bushes. Doris was a member of the Novesta Church of Christ Quilting Club. She was known for making great banana split desserts.
Doris is survived by her sons: Raymond Hendrick of FL; Terry (Debb) Hendrick of Cass City; Charles (Kelli) Hendrick of Decker; grandchildren: Nathan (Sara) Hendrick, Elissa (Matt Chippi) Hendrick, Heather (Tom) Cannon, Lindsey (Joel) Brinkman, Ashley (Jon) Horton, Carley (David) Baumeister; great grandchildren: James Hendrick, Elizabeth Hendrick, Kellan Levine, Emercyn Cannon, Adalee Brinkman, Kylee Brinkman, Brock Horton, Brody Horton, Bo Horton, Blake Horton; many nieces and nephews. Doris is preceded in death by her siblings: Floyd (Lorraine) Lewis, Elmer (Norma) Lewis, Geraldine (Al) Deese, Fonda (Vern) Bennett.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2023 in Novesta Church of Christ, Cass City with Brad Speirs officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery in the spring. Pallbearers for Mrs. Hendrick will be her grandsons: Nathan Hendrick, Kellan Levine, Tom Cannon, Joel Brinkman, Jon Horton, David Baumeister. Memorials may be made to Novesta Church of Christ, Satchell’s Christian Retirement Home Crafts and Activities, or Cardinal Hospice.
All visitors and attendees are encouraged to wear purple which was Doris’s favorite color.
