Maynard Helwig

Maynard J. Helwig, 71, of Cass City, died Thursday, December 15, 2005 in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Saginaw. He was born September 20, 1934 at home in Tuscola County to Levi and Marion (Mellendorf) Helwig. He married Nancy Little May 4, 1957 in Caro.
Maynard served in the US Army in Korea. He worked for Walbro Manufacturing for 26 years and then began working at Croft Clara Lumber. He coached the Croft Clara softball team for many years. Maynard owned his own lawn care business with his grandson. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, woodworking and playing with his great grandchildren.
Maynard is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters: Judy (Dave) Ware of Cass City, Lynda (Dale) McIntosh of Cass City; grandchildren: Mike (Bonnie) Ware of Cass City, Shannon (Dieter) Roth of Cass City, Bryce McIntosh of Cass City; great grandchildren: Jacob and Madison Ware, Matthew and Paige Roth, Summer McIntosh; brothers, Elwyn (Linda) Helwig of Cass City; sisters: Lenora (Veron) Gingrich of Cass City, Wenola Lowe of Cass City, Joyce (Bob) McArthur of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lisa Ware.
Funeral service held 12:00 noon Saturday, December 17, 2005 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Internment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbeareres for Mr. Helwig: Mike Ware, Dieter Roth, Dale McIntosh, Dave Ware, Ken Lowe, and Elwyn Helwig. Memorials may be made to Novesta Church of Christ.
