HELEN RUTH BROWN

Helen R. Brown, 87, of Snover, died peacefully June 13, 2023 in her home.  She was born September 8, 1935 in Troy to Harold and Harriett (Hill) King.  She married Robert John Brown on August 21, 1971 in Troy.      

Helen graduated from Troy High School.  She received her bachelor’s degree from Oakland University, a master’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University and almost completed her doctorate degree. Helen was a teacher at Romeo Community Schools and retired after thirty-two years.  She liked to travel, especially to the Upper Peninsula.  The Porcupine Mountains was a favorite destination.  Helen enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens.  She was very talented at quilt making and made one for each of her grandchildren. Helen loved attending all family events together with Robert.   

Helen is survived by her husband of almost fifty-two years, Robert; son, David (Honey) Brown of Farmington Hills; brother, Ernest (Isabelle) King of Armada; sister, Irene Horn of Armada; grandchildren:  Christian Best, Samantha Best, Gareth Smith, Anthony Brown, Alyssa Brown, Robert Brown; great grandchildren:  Lincoln and Addison.  She was preceded in death by her brothers:  Robert King, Harley King, Jimmy King.      

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023 in Heritage United Methodist Church, Snover with Pastor Penny Nunn officiating.  Interment will be in Argyle Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family to be used at their discretion.  

Visitation:    10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023 in Heritage United Methodist Church, Snover
