BEVERLY SHEPLER HAUGHTON
Beverly S. Haughton, 67, of Cass City, died Saturday, September 18, 2004 in Marlette Community Hospital Hospice Residence. She was born August 13, 1937 in Rochester NY to Harold W. and Biena V. (Dokter) Shepler. She married Thomas J. Haughton June 29, 1957 in Gates, NY.
Beverly was an officer and member of both the Junior Service Club and Welcome Wagon in Collinsville, IL. She was a member, Elder and Deacon at the Cass City First Presbyterian Church and churches in towns she lived prior to moving to Cass City. Beverly enjoyed traveling. She and Tom had been doing a great deal of that since 1991. She had been in every state in the Union except Alaska, and visited many other countries. Beverly was a member of the Lake Huron Sweet Adeline’s. She enjoyed golfing, painting, sewing, gardening, needlework, singing, skiing, camping, and traveling. Beverly loved life and wanted it celebrated. �"God has given me a loving and devoted husband and children for which I have been grateful, and am also grateful for the gift of many truly good friends.”
Beverly is survived by her husband, Tom; children: Bradley T. (Virginia) Haughton of Boise, ID, Brenda (Mark) Haughton Mangum of Marine, IL; grandchildren: Cathryn Haughton, Bond Mangum; brother, Harold M. (Edna) Shepler of Carlysle, PA; nephews: Steven (Kim) Shepler of Cincinnati, Martin (Maria) Shepler of Topeka, KS, Robert (Susanna) Shepler of Carlysle, PA; niece, Joyce (Joel) Rolar of Carlysle, PA; sister-in-law and her family, Ninalle (Robert) Caswell of Hilton, NY; great Aunt, who is 102 years old, Martha Vivian Robinson. She is preceded in death by her uncle, John Oscar Dokter.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 2004, in Cass City First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Blackburn officiating. Beverly asked that her body be cremated and her cremated remains be scattered in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Memorials may be made to Marlette Community Hospital Hospice Residence or Cass City First Presbyterian Church.
