Thelma May Hartsell (Willer)

THELMA MAY HARTSELL,
87, of Deford, died following a brief illness, Sunday, February 17, 2019 in her daughter’s home. She was born May 29, 1931 in Marlette, the first of two children born to Gerald R. and Mary E. (Yoe) Willer. She married William James Hartsell July 5, 1952 in Marlette. He died June 24, 2012.

Thelma worked for a time for Marlette Dry Cleaning and Douglas Funeral Home in Cass City. But Thelma’s main work was as a wife and mother. Over the years Thelma enjoyed refinishing furniture, crocheting and quilting. Thelma spent time working in her flower gardens and she was a talented decorator. She loved preparing large family dinners.

Thelma is survived by her children: William (Jennifer Gladding) Hartsell of Ionia, Lucille (Glen) May of Caro, Jeffrey (Maryanna) Hartsell of Kingston, Leatha (Scott) Germain of Deford, Connie (John) Sommer of Deford, Cole Hartsell of Cass City; grandchildren: Caitlin (Dustin) Higdon, Bennett Hartsell, Jeffrey Hartsell, Eric Hartsell, Joshua (Dee) Kamrad, Jessica (Nick) Wallace, Lindsay (William) Guth, Adrien Hartsell, Erin Hartsell, Mason Hartsell, Lauren Hartsell; several great and great great grandchildren; sister in law, Anna Mae Ott. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hartsell.

Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Debra L. Kranz, Funeral Service Celebrant, officiating. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Hartsell: Josh Kamrad, Jeffrey Hartsell, Eric Hartsell, Adrien Hartsell, Mason Hartsell.
