RICHARD THOMAS "DICK" HARBIN,
76, of Marlette died unexpectedly Friday, February 20, 2015 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw. He was born November 23, 1938 in Detroit to Arthur Thomas and Joan Elizabeth (Warnock) Harbin. He married Marlene Rapson Harbin August 3, 1985 in St. John Lutheran Church, Romeo.
Dick graduated from Port Hope High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Dick worked as a machinist/supervisor for JPT Tool and Die in Clifford for many years until his retirement. He was a very active member of the Marlette VFW Post #4837 including his term as Post Commander and his current position of Quartermaster. Dick was a licensed pilot and loved to fly. He enjoyed all types of hunting and fishing and enjoyed playing golf. Dick loved and appreciated the beauty of bald eagles and would stop and watch when he spotted one.
Dick is survived by his wife, Marlene; children: Jeff Harbin of Ohio, Vicki Harbin of Marlette, Tim Harbin of Lapeer, Crystal Attaway of Texas, Linda (Mike) Goertler of Las Vegas, NV, Terry (Annette) Harbin of Troy, Mike (Linda) Harbin of Harbor Beach, Ray (Sally) Harbin of Shelby Township; 17 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandaughter and a great great grandson due soon; brother, Don (Shirley) Harbin of Pigeon; three nephews.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in Marsh Funeral Chapel , Marlette with Rev. Christopher Laughlin of Hope Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Colfax Township Cemetery, Bad Axe. Military Honors under the direction of Marlette VFW Post #4837. Memorials may be made to Marlette VFW Post #4837.
