MARLENE BETH HARBIN
Marlene B. Harbin, 83, of Marlette, formerly of Romeo, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 10, 2018 in Covenant Medical Center Cooper Campus, Saginaw. She was born February 8, 1935 in Macomb County the fourth of five children born to Thomas Earl and Dessalee (Stickle) Rapson. She married Cecil Ray Harbin June 28, 1952. He died December 28, 1981. Marlene later married Richard Thomas Harbin August 3, 1985 in St. John Lutheran Church, Romeo. He died February 20, 2015.
Marlene graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1953 where she sang in the choir. She worked for the dry cleaners in Bad Axe for a time, at the same time keeping the books for Cecil’s milk route. After selling the milk route they moved to Virginia. It was during their time in Virginia that the opportunity to start an Adult Foster Care Home arose. Marlene worked hard managing their Adult Foster Care Homes in Romeo and Harbor Beach. Not only managing, she was hands on with the clients and the day to day running the business. Over the years Marlene bowled on several leagues in the Thumb, she enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, reading, working crossword puzzles. She also liked to visit the casinos and always came home a winner. Marlene enjoyed watching NASCAR on television and sports, especially the Detroit Lions.
Marlene is survived by her children: Linda Goertler of Las Vegas, NV, Terry (Annette) Harbin of Troy, Michael (Linda) Harbin of Harbor Beach, Ray (Sally) Harbin of Washington; grandchildren: Dawn Goertler , Lee (Julie) Harbin, Lisa (Tim) Burkhard, Pam Croninger, Julie Croninger, Brian Croninger, Aaron (Colleen) Seitz, Christy Seitz, Alicia Harbin; great grandchildren: Blaine (Taylor) Goertler, Gregory, Ashley, Matthew, Alexia, Abby, Aaron, Maverick, Noah, Hudson; great great grandchildren: Rylyn, Breven, Easton and Elliah. Also left to remember Marlene is her brother and sister-in-law, Darrel and Betty Rapson of Pigeon; many nieces and nephews. Marlene is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Michael Goertler; sister, Onnalee Bensinger; brothers: Thomas Rapson, Dale (Pat) Rapson.
