Caleb J. Hanby, 28, of Cass City died following a year long battle with Rhabdomyosarcoma. He battled the cancer bravely and with so much pride for a full year and he courageously “won” his battle and will forever be our Superman. Caleb J. Hanby was born December 17, 1986 in Cass City, Michigan the first of two sons born to Jeffrey and Michelle (Palmer) Hanby. Caleb married his wonderful bride, Bethany Davidson, in a beautiful bedside ceremony at Vanderbilt University Center MICU, while surrounded by family and friends on September 24, 2015. Caleb said that the ceremony made him feel “complete”.
Caleb graduated from Cass City High School in 2005. He completed his education at Cedarville University graduating in 2009. He worked as a personal trainer at Prairie Life Fitness and as an athletic trainer at Zion Christian Academy. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed soccer, Michigan football, Tigers baseball, Red Wings hockey, the outdoors, guns, naps with his doggie, having fun with friends and family, playing X-box games, and watching superhero movies. Caleb was a member of Judson Baptist Church and a founding member of the Nashville FC Soccer Club.
Caleb is survived by his wife, Bethany Davidson Hanby; parents, Jeffrey and Michelle Hanby; grandparents, Barbara Hanby and Wilbur Palmer and his wife Betty; brother, Jacob Hanby (Charity); nephews: Aidan, Ward, and Colman; mother and father–in-law, Toni and Dennis Davidson: two sisters-in-law, Katie and Carrie Davidson; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins; and his “son”, K.C. Davidson Hanby (his Maltese puppy). Caleb is preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Hanby; and his grandmother, Mary Lou Palmer.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor David Hill, Cass City First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Caleb: Devon Palmer, Malachi Palmer, Wes Todd, Joel Patera, Kyle Hanby, Brad Hanby, Kurt Hanby.
