Robert L. Hammond, 67, of Kingston, died Sunday, December 14, 2003 in his home after a short illness. He was born May 14, 1936 in Gladwin to Oscar and Katherine (Camp) Hammond. He married Carolyn C. Rocker September 29, 1973 in Richmond. They moved from Richmond to Kingston about three years ago.
Bob served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne. He worked for Bower Roller Bearing in Detroit for 19 years and then for All State Insurance as a Claims Representative for many years. Bob was an avid sports fan including baseball, bowling, Nascar, and all Kingston High School sports. He was a member of the New Haven VFW until his move to Kingston. He had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Bob’s granddaughter will be the fourth generation to entertain with her singing.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carolyn C.; children: Cheryl (Lindy) Crane of Kingston, Shelly (Kenneth) Meredith of Snover, Susan (Steven) Wynn of Unionville; grandchildren: Coren, Leah, Emily, Nicole, Anna, Ian, Molly and Haley; brother, Richard O. (Jackie) Hammond of St. Clair Shores, half-brothers: Patrick Hammond and Robert Hammond; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by sisters: Beverly Tallberg, Earlene Walker; infant twin brother and sister, Sally and Robert Hammond; and his parents.
Funeral services to be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2003 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Rev. Terry Butters of Kingston United Methodist Church officiating. Memorials may be made to Kingston Rescue, United Hospice of Marlette or Kingston United Methodist Church. Interment is in Kingston Cemetery, Kingston.
