WILLIAM CARL HACKER,
88, of Cass City, died following a brief illness Sunday, December 1, 2019 in Covenant Medical Center Cooper Campus, Saginaw. He was born July 3, 1931 in Detroit to William Jacob and Wanda P. (Stark) Hacker. He married Loretta Lou Trisch on January 13, 1951 and together they celebrated almost sixty-nine years of marriage.
Bill moved to Cass City in 1941 and graduated from Cass City High School in 1949. He began working on the family dairy farm in 1951. When Bill wasn’t dairy farming, he was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Bill enjoyed visiting his cabin and fishing on George Lake. He was fond of playing cards and watching the Detroit Tigers on television. Bill loved spending time with his family. In retirement, he enjoyed driving Amish school children and their families.
Bill is survived by his wife Loretta; daughter, Wanda (David) Gilles of Brighton; son, John (Marnie) Hacker of Cass City; eight grandchildren: Mel (Casey) Joling, Chad Gilles, Katie (Dan) Rinke, Leslie (Brandon) Stec, Jenny (Kyle) Kowalski, Becca (Kyle) Middaugh, Jacob (Katie) Hacker, Tom Lang; six great-grandchildren: Cruz Joling, Maren Rinke, Riley Rinke, Michael Stec, Jack Kowalski, Ben Middaugh; sister, Elaine Phelps of Caro. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Winnie Williams; foster children: Liz Vargo, David Vargo.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Covenant Medical Center Cooper Campus, Saginaw for the care and compassion during Bill’s stay. They would also like to thank Pastor Steve Bagnall for his support, guidance and prayers.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2019 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City with Rev. Steve Bagnall officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery.
