Robert L. "Bob" Guinther, 69, of Grand Blanc died Thursday, February 19, 2015 in Hurley Medical Center, Flint. He was born March 24, 1945 in Detroit the first of four children born to Lyle Benjamin and Helen Eileen (Byrnes) Guinther. He married Linda Kay Meredith Garnica January 25, 2005 in Traverse City.
Bob graduated from Marlette High School where he played on the High School football team. He worked as a painter for General Motors for over 38 years retiring in 2005. Bob enjoyed watching college football and basketball games especially Michigan State University teams. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Pistons. Bob was a talented woodworker making many creative decorations. In his younger years he enjoyed traveling to Western and Southern states. He was a former member of the Caro Moose Lodge #1049.
Bob is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Christopher Guinther of Grand Blanc; mother, Helen Gillespie of Naples, FL; brothers: Patrick Gillespie of Naples, FL, Paul Charles "Chuck" Gillespie of Naples, FL. He is preceded in death by an infant sister, Myla Sue Guinther and his father, Lyle Guinther.
Funeral service held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Christian Tabares of Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association.
