Alvin C. Guild, 87, of Cass City, died peacefully Tuesday, November 5, 2002 in his home. He was born April 15, 1915 at home in Tuscola County, Colwood area to Oscar and Edith (Smith) Guild. He married Mayme (Mary Caroline) Strickland October 23, 1935 in Toledo, OH. She died July 23, 1988.
Alvin farmed until 1947. He drove a gas truck for Gulf (now Cass City Oil and Gas) and was a gas station attendant for a few years. He worked for Cass City Manufacturing and 20 years for General Cable. Alvin visited Mio every 2 weeks since 1966, while Mayme was alive. He enjoyed fly fishing and hunting. Years ago he was a member of the Cass City Gun Club.
Alvin is survived by his children: Joyce (Carter) Schad of Caro, Gerald (Lillian LaPratt) Guild of Caro, Linda (John) Bossert of Cass City; grandchildren: Dale Bradley, Melissa Guild Miller, Jennifer (Joe) Weissenborn, Gregory (Bekki) Guild, Henry (Darcy) Gere, Dawn (Rodney) Williams, Tony Bossert, Kevin Bossert; great grandchildren: Carissa Davison, Mason Bradley, Jeron Guild O’Kelly, Greyson Guild, Trevor Miller, Chloe Weissenborn, Scott Gere, Travis Gere, Steven Gere, Jennifer Gere, and Loretta Fritz; loving sister and her family, Genevieve Matuszak of Caro. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Helen; brother, ‘Stub’ Hall; sister, Alice Gordon, great granddaughters: Sarah Sutton and Amanda Gere.
Funeral services held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2002 at Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor Phil Whipple and Pastor Rocky Spear of Colwood United Brethren in Christ Church officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund.
Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday
2 to 5 & 7 to 9 p.m. Friday
11 to 1 p.m. Saturday, before the service
