Benjamin Gruber, 75, of Cass City, died, Sunday, March 14, 2010 in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Saginaw following a lingering illness. He was born July 29, 1934 in Argyle Township to Joseph and Susie (McDow) Gruber.
Ben was a U.S. Army veteran based in Germany, serving as a medic. He worked for Grand Trunk Railroad as a Switchman/Breakman from 1955 until his retirement in 1985. Ben enjoyed hunting, traveling, mechanical work and spending time in his shed. He enjoyed social events and visiting with people. He was a member of the Cass City Missionary church.
Ben is survived by his long time friend Marcia Schember; daughter, Kim (Michael) Low of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Meleia (Steven) Meyer, Whittney Bacon, Chris (Christina) Low, Shannon Low, Cory (Dana) Low; five great-grandchildren; brother, John (Velma) Gruber; brother-in-law, Jack Davison; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Genevieve Gruber, Dorothy Davison, Delilah Zimawski; brothers: Jake Gruber, Joseph Gruber.
Memorial service held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 in Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City with Pastor Bob Sweeney, Cass City Missionary Church officiating.
