EARL EDWARD GRIGG,
107, of Cass City died following a short illness Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro. He was born November 14, 1903 in Bay County to William J. and Jennie (Francis) Grigg. He married Delia W. Mielens October 5, 1927 in Immanuel Lutheran Church Parsonage in Bay City. She died March 12, 2002.

Earl wanted to be a Veterinarian. He attended Michigan State University studying in that direction for a short time until his father called him home to help on the family farm. Earl and Delia raised their family in Munger and began farming in the Munger area raising cash crops and cattle. In later years they moved to their cattle farm in Cass City. Earl was a former member of Trinity St. James Lutheran Church in Munger and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cass City. Earl was instrumental in building the current Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was a former member of Farm Bureau. Earl saw many changes in the world in his 107 years, but his work ethic never wavered. He enjoyed working and believed that hard work never hurt anyone. Earl also enjoyed watching the deer and spending time with his family and friends.

Earl is survived by his children: Betty (Darrell) Fuller of Caro, Neal (Sharon) Grigg of Munger, daughters-in-law, Grace Grigg of Saginaw, Pauline Grigg of Munger; grandchildren: Robin Walters (Randy Smith), Lori (Evans) Lalas, Gail (Jim) Dockery, Jason Fuller, William (Jenny) Grigg, Brian Grigg, Gary (Tina) Grigg, Kevin (Dale) Grigg, Daniel (Cheryl) Grigg; 20 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by: sons, Lyle Grigg, Eldon Grigg; granddaughter-in-law, Linda Grigg; great grandson, Austin Reiss; brothers: Elmer Grigg, Morley Grigg; sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Herman LaBrenz.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2011 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City with Rev. Randall Russell officiating. Interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery, Bay City. Pallbearers for Mr. Grigg will be his grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
