GORDON WRIGHT JR.
Gordon Wright Jr., 53, of Deford died unexpectedly Thursday, January 2, 2025 in Covenant Medical Center Cooper, Saginaw. He was born June 1, 1971 in Marlette to Gordon and Lois (Bailey) Wright, Sr. He married Suzette Yolanda Wentworth on December 9, 2000 in Kingston United Methodist Church.
Gordon attended and played football for Kingston High School and then joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his time in service, he worked construction which led to a career in trucking. Gordon was recently employed by Aztec Asphalt of Marlette. Rebuilding a 1969 Ford truck was one of his latest hobbies, of which he had many. Gordon had a talent for building with wood and made many dollhouses, furniture items, and tables. He enjoyed mudbogging, truck and tractor pulls, playing pool, and kayaking the Cass River. Gordon was a fan of U of M Football, the Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Tigers. He played many games of chess with his daughter, Domonique and worked on many vehicles with his daughter, Jazmine. Clive Cussler and Jack Higgins were his favorite authors. Gordon was fond of his dogs, Hondo and Hella and his cat, Libby. Most of all, he adored time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Suzette of Deford; children: Shawn Wentworth of Snover, Domonique (David) Parke of Decker, Jazmine (Lance) Freeman of Melvin; grandchildren: Arriana, Aurora, Gary, Lita, Sophie, Echo; brother, Jim Wright of Otsego, MI; two nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Luna.
A memorial service will be held at a time and date to be announced later.
