Lula Glassford

October 1, 1910 — December 19, 2003

Lula M. Glassford, 93, of Corunna, formerly of Kingston, died Friday, December 19, 2003 in Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility, after a long illness. She was born October 1, 1910 in Kingston to Charles and Elta (Warner) Sanford.

Lula attended school in the Kingston area, leaving upon her marriage in 1924. She worked as a nurses aid for Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, retiring after many years. She enjoyed crocheting, working crossword puzzles, playing dominoes, and when she was young, hunting. Lula taught herself to play the organ, which she enjoyed and loved to sing along. She loved to be around babies and little children.

Lula is survived by her son, Lynn C. (Alma) Glassford of Clio; daughter, Jean M. (Nickolas) Hoffman of Owosso; daughter-in-law, Elaine Glassford of Kingston; 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, James H. Glassford; sisters: Eunice Allen and Inez Gilmore.

Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2003 in Kranz Funeral Home Kingston with Rev. Terry Butters of Kingston United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Tuscola Medical Care Facility, Caro. Pallbearers for Mrs. Glassford will be: Don Whitener, James Glassford, Jim Hoffman, Terry Hoffman, Jim Fourman, and Tim Marquardt.

Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2003
2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2003
