GHISLAINE MARIE CLINCKE

Marie Clincke, 86, of Cass City died Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital.  She was born March 16, 1937 in Belgium, the youngest of three daughters born to Gerard and Bertha (Collins) Maes.  She married Bertrand Hector Clincke on July 21, 1956 in Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church, Detroit.  He died January 19, 2019.

Marie came from Belgium at the age of eighteen and married Bert in the United States where they then started their new life.  Together they built a house in Almont and had a small farm.  She was thrilled when Bert would make a new piece of furniture that she could proudly display in their home.  Marie was known for keeping her home neat and orderly and she took pride in the hobby of decorating.  Following retirement, they moved to Cass City.  Marie was a great cook and specialized in making Belgian meals.  She forever held a special place in her heart for her son, Roger, who died in 1973 when he was ten years old.  Marie will be remembered for being a social butterfly.  She was a member of Our Lady Consolata Parish, Cass City.   

Marie is survived by her son, Bernard (Sue) Clincke of Murfreesboro, TN.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bertrand; sisters:  Mariette and Denise. 

Funeral mass held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, Cass City with Fr. Robert Pare officiating.  Interment will be in Christian Memorial Gardens West, Rochester Hills.  Memorials may be made to Northwood Meadows or Our Lady Consolata Parish.  

Visitation:   2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2023 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City

9 a.m.  to 10 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, Cass City
