Rosemary J. Gallaway, 84, of Port Sanilac, formerly of Cass City, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 in the Sanilac County Medical Care Facility. She was born July 1, 1928 in Brighton, MI to William and Matilda (Wisser) Bailey. She grew up in rural northern Michigan, near Mikado, and married Vern Gallaway in Sanilac County on June 14, 1952. They were married thirty-eight years until his death on February 5, 1990.
Rosemary graduated from Oscoda High School in 1946 and received her BA in Education from Central Michigan University in 1950. She then moved to Cass City to teach fifth grade. After her retirement in 1981, Rosemary and her husband enjoyed buying and fixing homes to later sell. Rosemary was a member of the Cass City United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Rawson Memorial Library book club, Retired School Employees Association, State Employees Retirement Association and the Jack & Jill mixed doubles bowling league. She loved her flower garden and also enjoyed reading and watching Detroit sports on TV.
Rosemary is survived by her daughters: Luann (Neil) Maher of Port Sanilac, Crystal (Jim) Adkins of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren: Cody (Leslie) Maher of Rapid City, Dustin Maher of Port Sanilac, Amanda Maher of Port Sanilac, Chelsea (Corey) Crumbliss of Jacksonville, FL, Tripp (Kristen) Adkins of Jacksonville, FL; great granddaughter, Kennedi Adkins of Jacksonville, FL. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Funeral service held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Jackie Roe of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Rawson Memorial Library.
