HELEN JANE FUESTER,
93, of Edwardsburg, MI, formerly of Cass City, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 in East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart, IN. She was born June 15, 1918 in Cass City to Thomas and Helen (Fenton) Whitfield. She married Elmer Fuester September 19, 1936 in the Parsonage of the Presbyterian Church in Cass City. He died March 4, 1995 after 58 great years.
Jane graduated from Cass City High School in 1936. Jane and Elmer worked their farms in Cass City for many years. They spent winter months at their home in Bradenton, Florida since 1963. They belonged to two Euchre clubs for over 50 years. Jane enjoyed playing cards, playing piano, reading, dancing and traveling. Jane was a member of the Busy Bees, Red Cross, Greenleaf Extension Club, Shabbona Extension Club, Hills & Dales General Hospital Auxiliary, Greenleaf Evergreen Farm Bureau and was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. At age 12 Jane accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cass City, where she attended until age 83. Because of failing health, she moved to Edwardsburg, MI to live with her daughter Carol and husband Kurt. Jane loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and also with her many great friends.
Jane is survived by her daughters: Joan (Lester) O’Dell of Ashley, Carol (Kurt) Comer of Edwardsburg, Linda (Walt) Gee of Edwardsburg; 13 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Bill Ross; infant daughter, Wendy; four infant grandsons; half-sister, Catherine Rodger and her two sons, Tom Rodger and Stewart Rodger.
Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 in First Presbyterian Church of Cass City with Pastor David Blackburn officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Cass City or the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
