Fred R. Francis, 41, of Cass City, died Sunday, January 22, 2006 in his home after a long illness. He was born July 23, 1964 in Cass City to Elmer and Janet (Wright) Francis. He married Deborah Combs June 5, 1982 in Cass City.
Fred graduated from University of North Texas with a Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice. He served in the US Air Force both on active duty in the Gulf War and in the reserves. Fred worked for the Police Department in Fort Worth, TX three years on patrol and eight years in special operations. After returning to Michigan, Fred worked with his Dad in construction then worked as a security officer at various places including NASCAR races. He was a volunteer at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. He worked as a personal protection specialist for many years. Fred enjoyed fishing, martial arts (he held a black belt in Pukang Tang Su Do), spending time with his family and he was a NASCAR fan.
Fred is survived by his wife, Deborah; children: Tiffany Francis of Cass City, Chad Francis of Cass City; parents: Elmer and Janet Francis of Cass City; sisters: Debra (Juan) Medrano of Live Oak, TX; Donna (Rick) Hartwick of Cass City; Denise (Dave) Janssen of Cass City; brother, Bill (Linda) Francis of Live Oak, TX; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Jan Combs of Muskoggee, OK; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Raymond and Susie Francis, Fred and Rachel Wright, mother-in-law, Kathreen Combs, and nephews: Ryan Hartwick, Jason Medrano, Curt Medrano.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2006 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Ray Whittaker of Victory Temple Church of God officiating. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund. Burial of cremated remains will take place in the spring in Ellington Township Cemetery, Caro. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com. Military honors under the direction of Cass City VFW Post #3644 and the US Air Force.
